As 2019 winds down, The Dodd Studio is wrapping up exciting park projects in the region including the Dorton Park Master Plan in Concord, NC, the Ranson Rosedale Park Master Plan in Huntersville, NC and the Riverbend Park Master Plan in York County, SC. From 13 acres (Ranson Rosedale Park) to 1,900 acres (Riverbend Park), we enjoy working with communities to create green spaces of all sizes that are functional, engaging and sustainable. We look forward to 2020 and continuing our efforts to shape meaningful outdoor spaces. We wish everyone a very happy holiday season

May 2019:

The Dodd Studio is excited to announce the opening of Raper-Roark Park in Shelby, NC. The Dodd Studio worked with the City of Shelby to transform the corner of an integral gateway intersection into Uptown Shelby, building upon the pedestrian-friendly and unique local Uptown fabric. What was once a parking lot is now a vibrant public green space featuring an event lawn, bubbler fountain, paver plaza, landscaped flowerbeds, brick columns, benches, and a Fallen Heroes Memorial to honor law enforcement officers, firefighters and EMS personnel who have died in the line of duty. The grand opening of Raper-Roark Park took place on Friday, May 17 and included a service to unveil the granite Fallen Heroes Memorial with over 100 law enforcement officers, first responders and community members, and leaders present. If you are in the Shelby area, be sure to check out this new park space and explore the charming Uptown Shelby!

December 2018:

The Dodd Studio is excited to announce that it is working with the City of Concord to develop a Master Plan for Dorton Park. This 24-acre park is home to tennis courts, covered shelters, walking and running paths, playgrounds and multi-use sport fields. As a heavily used park, and the site of future greenway connectivity, the City hopes to leverage the park’s assets and make enhancements that further the user experience and create new opportunities for recreation, both active and passive. A public meeting will be taking place in early 2019, so if you live in the Concord area, we would love to hear your thoughts on Dorton Park!

June 2018:

With the Charlotte LYNX Blue Line Extension now complete, light rail riders can travel from Pineville to the UNC Charlotte campus. Taking into mind how people connect to the light rail, the City of Charlotte established the Northeast Corridor Infrastructure Program (NECI) to improve pedestrian, bicyclist and motorist access to the Blue Line Extension. In 2017, The Dodd Studio provided sub consultant design services for the Tom Hunter Road Streetscape project, which originated from NECI, and aims to improve access to the new light rail station at the intersection of Tom Hunter Road and North Tryon Street. The final design for streetscape improvements along Tom Hunter Road is close to completion and the City hopes to share the design with the public this summer. Check back in for project details as this exciting connectivity project comes to life and be sure to take a ride on the new light rail line extension.
